Lemire's Plugwork's, 2012 Best Striper Lures (Custom Wood Striper Lures)

Lemire's Plugworks offer wooden saltwater and freshwater lures for striper fishing and other types of game fishing. They take great pride in the craftsmanship and catch-ability of all the fishing plugs the hand craft. They not only make their our own fishing plugs, but they also fish and test them extensively.

Al Lemire started building plugs as a hobby, but it quickly turned into a passion or an obsession. As striped bass and bluefish are the targeted species, their plugs will work for a variety of salt water and fresh water game fish.

Each plug is hand crafted one at a time in Rhode Island, USA. They are turned out of premium woods, then drilled, sealed to prevent water intrusion, primed, airbrushed and top coated with high grade automotive paints and durable top coats. Then they are assembled with the highest quality components on the market today. They are stainless steel thru wired for strength, have 4x strong VMC hooks, wolverine triple wound stainless steel split rings, krok super strong stainless steel swivels and nickel plated grommets to protect the surrounding wood.

The craftsman pay close attention to every detail of the process and do not overlook any step. Even drilling the belly holes against the grain of the wood to hold its integrity. their plugs are built for good looks but most importantly for fish catching ability. The fish love our freshwater and saltwater lures and we believe you will also.
Lemire's Plugworks carry a full line of swimmers, needlefish, and top water plugs, including the Sea Fly, the first thru wired, salt water rigged wobble bait which has been creating quite a stir over the past year in the northeast striped bass fishing scene. They add new plugs and colors frequently, along with customizing colors to order so visit us regularly to see what we are up to.

No matter where you go striper fishing, you can trust Lemire's Plugworks to have the right fishing plugs for you. Check them out

Bad Ass Fishing T Shirts, Striper Slayers Apparel (Best Fishing T-shirts 2012)

Striper Slayers Apparel is a brand-spanking-new fishing apparel company.  Based out of Worcester, MA, Striper Slayers Apparel has this Urban Hooker jones-ing for more.  I met with the Founders of SSA at the 2012 NE Saltwater Fishing Convention in Rhode Island.  They explained to me that the company just launched and these styles are literally hot off the presses.  The owners are not only running the company but they are also tattoo artists by trade.  When they are not beautifying their clients skin with masterful tattoo artistry, they are focused on creative visions for future t shirt designs.  Their style is a perfect blend of old school tattoo art and my favorite past time, striper fishing.  A f#$king match made in heaven.

Their styles are eclectic and the quality of their t shirts and screen printing are exemplary.  Disclaimer: At this point I personally own only one single piece of their fine work, but lucky for me, there are more to come!  I was told that there are many more styles being drawn up now including a fly fishing line.  Ooh-boy!  My buds from Bug Slinger might finally have some reel real competition.  If you have any sense of cool, go ahead and check them out.

Afterhours Custom Plugs, 2012 Striper Lures (Best Striper Fishing Lures 2012)

Don Guimelli- Afterhours Custom Plugs
"I've been an avid striped bass fisherman probing the shorelines of New England with bait, fly and plugs for more than 35 years, as well as a woodworker for more than 25 years. I became interested in building my own plugs because I knew exactly what I wanted in a plug: the highest quality construction combined with fish catching ability and castability. Using my combined knowledge of fishing and woodworking, I created Afterhours Custom Plugs."

Afterhours Custom Plugs are handcrafted saltwater wooden plugs, built one plug at a time. Each plug line is turned, painted, and assembled by hand. The production of our plugs is limited, due to the amount of labor involved. Each plug line is excessively tested to ensure that we are producing the best quality and fish producing plugs available to fisherman on the market.

We build plugs to order. Starting with the wood, we use Alaskan Yellow Cedar which is sealed to prevent water absorbtion. All plugs are thru wired with stainless steel wire and use the highest quality hardware including VMC hooks, Wolverine SS Triple split rings, and Krok swivels.
The exceptional finish on Afterhours Custom Plugs is both beautiful and durable, second to none! Afterhours Custom Plugs are designed and built for beauty, durability and of course catching fish.
